Sustainability

We strive to be environmentally conscious throughout our operations and production processes. We achieve this through the use of several sustainable techniques we have implemented in the greenhouse including, but not limited to:

• Using solar panels to operate off the grid

• Collecting, treating, and using rainwater from our catchment system

• Composting the majority of excess waste; resulting in an overall food waste of less than 1%

• Feeding our hybrid fish a plant-based feed made from locally sourced ingredients

Education

Community is at the core of our mission, and as such, we strive to engage and impact our community in a positive way. From greenhouse to classroom, we are helping educate all ages about the endless possibilities and benefits of urban agriculture, sustainability, science, career potential, and conservation.

Our 2019 Impact:

• About 2000 area youth impacted

• Over 10% of all schools in the Duval County reached

• 50% of all students reached were in Elementary School

• For many students it was their first exposure to sustainability, food waste, and other STEM associated topics

We’re continuing to expand our internship and volunteer opportunities, while developing creative ways to engage our community. Whether its water consumption or county wide education, we have some exciting things planned.
